"Vigilant surveillance is essential to the longevity of the cancer survivor."
Internal Knowledge
Internal Knowledge helps post-treatment cancer survivors get immediate access to and funding for diagnostic services.
MRI, PET Scans, CT Scans, Mammogram and colonoscopies are pivitol in the post-cancer-treatment health care regiments yet they are costly, can be difficult to obtain and sometimes not covered by Health insurance companies.
Internal Knowledge seeks to level the playing field of health care for the cancer survivor and provide the peace of mind that comes with true understanding. Armed with the proper tools, survivors and their doctors can make more informed decisions. They can begin to take charge of their health care. And they can have the benefit of true internal Knowledge.
Steven Wolf, a 24 year Cancer survivor conceptualized this non-profit foundation in 2002.
He was a professional tennis player when first diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 19. With expert health care he was treated and went on to tour Europe playing tennis while earning a Masters Degree in Real Estate. He then focused on business and became a successful commercial real estate investment advisor. In 2001 he elected to take an CT scan although it was not part of his health care regiment. The test found a small tumor near his spine. After extensive surgery the tumor was removed and he again began to heal.
Originally named Peace of Mind Steven realized the power of diagnostic testing and the role that it can play in the life of the cancer survivor. The results of these tests can mean early detection or they can bring about an invaluable peace of mind. Whatever the outcome, these tests give power to the survivor.
The peace of mind that can come with knowing that everything is OK is priceless. says Wolf. In the off- chance that they do find something, it is far better finding it through a screening than discovering a problem through its' symptoms. It is the only way that you can truly take charge of your own health."
